Something struck home when I read this phrase of Krishnamurti’s last night (Life in Freedom) : ˝Once you have liberated Life…˝ And here I realize – I who have been hoping for awakening, hoping Life will free me – that I’ve been mistaken! I don’t have to be liberated, to awaken, for freedom is my essential nature. On the other hand, it’s up to me (i.e. the individual I take myself for) to free the Life that animates my being, to free It from the obstacles of my beliefs, cellular memories, and programming. It’s my mission as a human being. I think I finally understand what Etty Hillesum means when she writes that it’s we who must ˝ help˝ God.

Illusory, not because we decide nothing freely, but because choice implies alternatives, and in Reality, there are no alternatives, no opposites. ˝Heaven˝ is all there is. What we see with our everyday perception is a mental construction, karmic and impermanent. Even if this construction is shot through with Reality. There is not ˝God˝ AND we but only ˝God˝ (I especially like Joel Goldsmith ‘s term, ˝the Infinite Invisible˝). We are Its manifestation. What I seek, I Am. Now, to realize that, to experience it…
